As an active individual with a love for sports, deodorant has always been a staple in my bathroom cabinet. However, as I became more conscious of the products I used, I was shocked by the harsh ingredients found in many commercial deodorants. Studies revealed potential health risks, ranging from nervous system issues to hormonal imbalances and even breast cancer.

Ingredients like Aluminium, Triclosan, and Parabens, including the labelled neurotoxin Propylene Glycol, prompted me to thoroughly clean out my bathroom cabinet. I shifted towards natural products from small-scale producers and those available in eco-friendly stores and pharmacies.

I gathered the essentials and began experimenting with natural ingredients, leading to the creation of various products tailored to my preferences. Here’s an easy solid deodorant recipe suitable for sensitive skin, free from Sodium Bicarbonate and any artificial elements.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup of shea butter
  • 1/4 cup plus a tablespoon of purified beeswax
  • 1/4 cup of arrowroot powder
  • 10 drops of tea tree essential oil
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil

Here’s how to make it:

Melt the beeswax along with coconut oil and shea butter in the top part of a double boiler, ensuring not to overheat it.

Add the essential oils, followed by the arrowroot powder, and thoroughly mix until well combined.

Pour the mixture into recycled deodorant containers.

Enjoy your homemade natural solid deodorant, crafted with care for your skin and well-being!
